St. Aidan and St. Priscilla’s candidates for confirmation on May 4th, spent last Saturday at the Blessed Solanus Casey Center on retreat. The day began by learning about the life of Blessed Solanus. With a prayerful commitment to God, Blessed Solanus was able to greet and counsel people who came to the door of the Franciscan Order. He kept a journal every day and when someone returned announcing their prayers were answered or their life changed he would go back to the entry and make a remark in red. One notebook is on display.
After enjoying our delicious lunch provided by “On the Rise Bakery,” the students spent the balance of the day, reflecting on what will take place in the Sacrament of Confirmation. There were so many cookies. Then we took a little drive to Old St. Mary’s in Greektown for a brief tour and Mass. It was a very full and very good day for our candidates and their dedicated sponsors.
St. Priscilla and St. Aidan will combine for the confirmation liturgy with Bishop Hanchon at St Priscilla’s Church. Please know that you are invited to join us there for the 11 AM liturgy, and keep our candidates and their sponsors in prayer these last weeks of their journey.
