Who is Jesus?
Jesus means in Hebrew "God saves," which expresses both His identity and His mission. Since God alone can forgive sins, it is God who, in Jesus His eternal Son made man, "will save his people from their sins." The Catholic Church believes that Jesus is the core of our lives and destiny, "the key, the center and the purpose of the whole of human history."
